Go-Ahead Singapore Ready for Service - A World Where Every Journey Is Taken Care of
Following today’s announcement by the Land Transport Authority (LTA) regarding the Loyang bus package, Go-Ahead Singapore reported good progress in advance of launch on Sunday 4 September 2016.
Nigel Wood, Go-Ahead Singapore’s Managing Director, said: “We look forward to serving the community. Go-Ahead believes in a world where every journey is taken care of. This means all our people working harmoniously to ensure the delivery of a high quality service.
Bus Captains are the public face of the company and fundamental to our success. As a former Bus Captain myself I know how rewarding, and occasionally challenging, the job can be. They are committed to providing a first-class service and I am proud our market entry has made bus driving a more attractive employment option.
As we are now just one month from service commencement, we will increase our publicity. I urge commuters to look out for regular updates on social media, supported by bus information posters in and around key interchanges, community centres and housing developments. A number of buses will also feature specially designed adverts, creatively ‘wrapped’ to showcase some of the many talented people at Go Ahead.
None of this would be possible without the trust placed in us by the LTA and we will continue to work with them on a smooth transition.”
Approximately 75 per cent of Bus Captains have previous driving experience and this is reflected in an average employee age of around 46.
Bus Captain, Wang Chai Fong said: “A number of factors attracted me to work for the company. I have received very comprehensive training and the pay is good. I am also looking forward to driving a number of different routes and getting to know my passengers as it makes the job more rewarding.”
Bus Captain, Andrew Pang added: “At Go-Ahead Singapore we take turns to serve as the ‘In Charge’ of groups of between eight to 12 Bus Captains during route familiarisation training. I am motivated by such initiatives as they prepare us for possible promotion opportunities and allow staff to demonstrate their abilities.”
13 routes will commence from Loyang Depot on Sunday 4 September 2016, with an additional 11 from Sunday 18 September 2016, as detailed below. A 25 service will follow next year.
