Key Directors appointed at Go-Ahead Singapore

17 March 2016, Singapore – The Go-Ahead Group has appointed several key directors at its Go‑Ahead Singapore subsidiary company that won the Loyang Bus Contract. The management team will lead the organisation from start up to full operations of the 22 bus routes commencing in the third quarter of this year, as well as the phased introduction of three new services.

Nigel Wood has been appointed managing director. Nigel has extensive experience in the industry and started his career as a bus driver. He has held several senior roles at Go-Ahead London including: general manager, operations manager and service quality manager, meaning he is well placed to lead the creation of the new company.

Margaret Fowler, Singapore deputy transition director, is responsible for delivery of the transition from the set-up phase through to the start of operations. Her previous role at The Go-Ahead Group was strategic international business development. She brings several years’ experience of public transport strategy, business development and operational mobilisation.

Wendy Soh is the company’s finance and commercial director. She has held director and financial controller roles in a number of highly dynamic multi-national organisations including a number listed on the Singapore stock exchange. Her role will be to oversee the full spectrum of finance, accounting and treasury functions, and work closely with the management team to drive development and growth.

Kevin Middleton joins the executive group as the transition engineering director to establish the technical engineering and maintenance function of the organisation. He is also responsible for the Loyang building and equipment, and is tasked with ensuring effective testing and commissioning. Kevin is accomplished and versatile with extensive operational experience in transport projects both in the UK and overseas. He has held director level roles across engineering, operational and procurement functions.

Wang Poon Liang joins as HR director, having previously held HR director roles at one of the world’s largest air services providers dnata Singapore Pte Ltd, and hospitality and entertainment group Marina Bay Sands. Wang will lead the recruitment, training and development of the 900 people who will become Go-Ahead Singapore’s employees.

Speaking about the new appointments, The Go-Ahead Group chief executive, David Brown, said:

"Our aim has been to create a strong leadership team with the right values to successfully establish the new company Go-Ahead Singapore. I’m confident that we have the best team in place to do just that. We pride ourselves on being an organisation that develops talented people who can enjoy good careers with us - and our new bus company in Singapore will be no exception. Working in partnership with the Land Transport Authority, the team at Go-Ahead Singapore will ensure it delivers high quality services for the passengers who use the services and for local communities.

“At The Go-Ahead Group we have a devolved management approach as we believe that local companies are best placed to understand and respond to local communities’ needs. So, as with all our other subsidiary operating companies, the executive management team at Go-Ahead Singapore will be wholly responsible for operations in Loyang but they can also rely on the support and expertise of the much wider transport Group with more than a billion passenger journeys a year and over 26,000 employees.”
